Risks of Leaving Cataracts Untreated
- Posted on: Oct 15 2018
There are some things in life that are worth putting off— like taking your kids to that chewing gum exhibit or taking a look at your great uncle’s turtle figurine collection— but there are other things in life, like getting your cataracts professionally treated, that are far more important. If you have cataracts but you have been putting off having them removed, then this article is just for you. Let’s take a closer look at some of the risks of leaving your cataracts untreated.
Vision Loss
One of the great things about cataracts is that if they are removed and treated, then you should be able to restore your vision to normal once again. During this procedure, Dr. T. Jeff Russell will remove your cataracts and replace them with an intraocular lens (IOL) which is an artificial lens that can almost be related to a permanent contact lens.
If your cataracts are left untreated, however, it may result in permanent vision loss which isn’t something that we can fix. As one of the leading cause of blindness in the world, cataracts are something that needs to be taken very seriously and should be removed by Dr. T. Jeff Russell right away.
Blurred Vision
Another reason to not wait to get your cataracts removed is blurred vision. Blurred vision from cataracts can make seeing things (especially when you’re driving at night) a lot harder which is reason enough to have them removed.
If you have cataracts, let Dr. T. Jeff Russell remove them for you so that your vision can be restored. To learn more about your vision health, contact our Dallas office today and call us at (214) 522-2661.
