There Is No Cure

Glaucoma Diagnosis and TreatmentThe most unfortunate part about glaucoma is that there isn’t a cure for it yet. So, if you start to notice symptoms of this eye disease, it’s extremely important to schedule an appointment with Dr. T. Jeff Russell at Infinity Vision. Although incurable, glaucoma is very treatable especially when caught in the early stages.

There Are No Symptoms in the Early Stages

The scary thing about glaucoma is that there are no symptoms in the early stages. In fact, The American Academy of Ophthalmology estimates that nearly half of those who have glaucoma don’t know they have it. Luckily, by getting yearly eye examinations by Dr. T. Jeff Russell, we will be able to detect glaucoma in the early stages.

Genetic Factors Are Involved

Ophthalmologists are still studying the ins and outs of glaucoma, but it’s fair to say that this eye condition does have genetic factors involved. So, if your parent or grandparent have glaucoma, you are likely at a higher risk of getting it. Make sure to tell Dr. T. Jeff Russell of any family history of glaucoma when you come in for your consultation.

Glaucoma is one of the most common eye diseases. If you are concerned that you have glaucoma or if you would like to learn more about this disease, contact Dr. T. Jeff Russell at Infinity Vision today to schedule an appointment!
